Behind the Lens: Life in Videography and Photography

Working in videography and photography isn’t just about pointing a camera and hitting record — although we do a fair bit of that too. At Red Ronin Studios, our job is about telling stories, capturing real moments, and making sure the final product does more than just look good. It has to say something.

So, what’s it actually like working in the videography and photography industry? Let’s break it down.

Every Shoot is Different (and That’s the Fun Part)

One week we’re filming corporate videography in London, setting up multiple cameras to capture a panel discussion. The next, we’re out in Hertfordshire shooting drone footage of a landscape, or taking event photography at a live performance. Then there are the weddings, product shoots, promotional videos… the list goes on.

It’s unpredictable, sometimes exhausting, but never boring. We’ve learned to expect the unexpected — like microphones picking up every sneeze in the room, or the one guest who decides to stand directly in front of the camera during the most important shot of the day. (Yes, it happens more often than you’d think.)

The Process Matters

Whether it’s event videography, wedding photography, or a big corporate video production, the process is what keeps everything running smoothly.

  1. Pre-production: Planning meetings, storyboarding, and making sure everyone knows the schedule. This is also where clients tell us their vision — and sometimes change it three more times before the shoot day. That’s fine, we’re flexible.

  2. On the day: Camera setups, lighting, sound, drone videography if needed, and keeping everyone comfortable. Half the job is actually just putting people at ease so they forget the camera’s even there.

  3. Editing: The behind-the-scenes magic. We take hours of footage or hundreds of photos and cut it down into something sharp, professional, and meaningful. This is where the story really comes together.

Why Experience Counts

Good equipment is important, but it’s nothing without experience. Lighting changes, weather shifts, people get nervous on camera — and that’s where knowing what to do makes all the difference. Having filmed everything from small business promos in St Albans to large corporate conferences in London, we’ve learned to adapt without missing a shot.

More Than Just “Content”

At the end of the day, videography and photography are about connection. The best videos and photos don’t just show what happened — they make you feel it. A wedding video should bring back the emotions of the day. A corporate video should make clients feel confident about working with that business. An event highlights reel should make people wish they’d been there.

Why People Work With Us

Clients come to Red Ronin Studios because they want professional, creative videography and photography services without the stress. We make things simple, keep it friendly, and deliver work that actually gets used — on websites, social media, and campaigns. Whether it’s drone footage, event photography, or full-scale video production, our goal is always the same: to tell the story properly.

So if you’re searching for reliable videographers in Hertfordshire, event photographers in London, or a team that can cover everything from corporate video production to wedding videography, that’s what we do. And we try to make the whole experience a little less stressful and maybe even a bit fun.
